When was the last time you were at the right time, at the right place, poised for the right cycle of opportunity? Have you ever been there? Projects don’t succeed by “happenstance”. They require planning and outstanding execution. Career opportunities don’t just “happen” either.

This presentation will present five Golden Keys to enable you to take hold of your career or business. If you are not getting the best opportunities, projects or the best people on your project, this session is made for you.

The five Golden Keys to create your cycle of right opportunities are not “rocket science”, but are instead effective common sense principles that many professionals do not connect or implement successfully. These Golden Keys are: 1) Have a Strong Personal Foundation, 2) Become a recognized expert, 3) Become emotionally engaged 4) Actively help others, and 5) Become an effective team member.  These five principles are presented from the perspective of a project manager, program manager, or team member, but can be applied to any career.

The makeup of teams is constantly changing, creating unique challenges for teams to perform at the championship level that is demanded in today’s workplace and economy.  Multicultural and virtual teams are the norm!  Is your project team stuck?  Are you performing consistently at championship levels?  Are there “disconnects” between team members? Are there team members that you just don’t understand?  Who are those weirdos anyway? Why do they act and react the way that they do?

Culture and behavior norms are being challenged at an all time high in the workplace.  Multi-national and cross functional teams whether collocated or virtual are growing at significant rates and challenging traditional styles and modes of behavior and communication. Cross functional teams are demanding that barriers be removed, department silos be blown up and results achieved.

All of these issues are also exaggerated by the generational gaps that exist between teams.  From the aging of the baby boomers to the Gen X, and Gen Y moving into strong contributor and leadership roles in companies, all these can lead to frustration and diminished team performance.

Accomplishing team results through strong decision making and commitment to agreed upon behaviors and goals will provide definite takeaways to get your teams unstuck!

There are many reasons why project management does not really become a successful business process within a company.  The streets are lined with “dead” PMOs (Project Management Offices) and project managers and directors that tried to make them successful.  One of the biggest reasons that project management does not take traction in companies is because there are process and performance misalignments in business areas that surround project management.

These performance gaps show up in other departments where stakeholders misunderstand or have ill defined processes.  In project management terms, PMOs try to setup processes for projects but yet lack the basic understanding and connection to the organizational project management processes so desperately needed.  In addition, PMOs  are many time no to results, revenue, margin, or performance.

This presentation will discuss a four map process called Quad Maps that have successfully analyzed and installed business processes in organizations that support project management.  Combining an important Discovery Phase along with the implementation of the Four different mapped processes provide those necessary ingredients that will launch you towards knocking it out of the park in your company in project management!
